The Hybrid Eibli Lemon Peel Angelfish “TigerPyge” (Centropyge eibli x C. flavissima) is a pygmy angelfish hybrid that blends lemon-yellow body color with orange striping and darker tail markings. Many specimens also show thin blue edging along the fins and around the face, giving the pattern a crisp, high-contrast look.
What You’ll Observe:
- Frequent grazing passes over live rock, with quick turns into caves and crevices
- A “patrol” routine—looping through the same rockwork routes throughout the day
- Short, deliberate pecks at the glass and algae clip when familiar with the feeding schedule
- More confident, more interactive behavior after the first week or two as it settles in
To help it do well long-term, provide mature rockwork with lots of shaded pockets and multiple swim-throughs so it can forage and reset between patrols. Offer a mixed menu that includes marine algae/spirulina-based foods plus meaty items like mysis, and rotate foods to keep it engaged at feeding time.
Will a TigerPyge’s yellow/orange pattern change over time?
It can. Many keepers report the look “settles” after acclimation, and some individuals darken or mute slightly as they mature.
What’s the best way to get a new TigerPyge eating prepared foods?
Start with small, frequent offerings and include at least one algae-based option. Once it recognizes your feeding rhythm, most begin taking frozen and pellet foods more reliably.
Is constant pecking at rockwork and equipment normal?
Yes—this is typical grazing behavior for Centropyge-type angels. You’ll usually see it doing short feeding “laps” over the same areas.
Do they bother corals the same way every time?
No—individual behavior varies tank to tank. In many reefs, they ignore some corals while showing repeat interest in specific polyps or fleshy LPS.
Can this hybrid be kept with other dwarf angels if introduced together?
Sometimes, especially in larger, rockwork-heavy systems with strong line-of-sight breaks. Adding them at the same time and providing multiple “home bases” tends to reduce day-to-day disputes.
Each fish is checked for strong appetite and activity before we approve it for your tank.
