This species is naturally found across the South Pacific reef zone, and it brings constant motion to reef tanks without disturbing corals.

What You’ll Observe:

• Steady laps through open water, then quick check-ins to the rockwork between passes
• Short “display” moments where fins extend and color contrast sharpens during social interactions
• A consistent daily rhythm: active throughout the day, then settling into the rockwork to rest at night
• Confident feeding behavior, often meeting food in the water column and grabbing pieces on the move

For best results, provide a mature reef with plenty of rock structure plus clear swimming lanes. Feed a mix of small meaty foods in a few smaller servings so it can browse naturally during active periods. When mixing wrasses, introduce this fish thoughtfully (often later in the plan) and keep a tight-fitting lid or mesh top to support normal darting behavior.
